Behavior of a Circular Footing resting on Sand Reinforced with Geogrid and Grid Anchors

This study used finite element analysis to investigate the influence of using two reinforcing systems, geogrid and grid anchor, on bearing capacity a circular footing resting sand. The parameters studied were effect number reinforcement layers (N), depth ratio topmost layer (u/d), vertical spacing between consecutive (h/d), length (L). results showed that layout had very significant behavior reinforced sand foundation. maximum for single-layer inclusion was obtained when placed at u/d=0.42. Bearing also found improve increasing from 1 3. Additionally, by anchors performed better than geogrid. Finally, an improvement in load inclusions, optimal reinforcements determined 5d both inclusions.
